But it’s definitely worth getting your golf clubs out of the attic, Tom’s a bandit off 22, just ask him about it.
Each member of the squad will be donating to the charities this year every time they play, topping up their match fee to get a bit more money in the kitty. You can see the Authors’ full fixture list here.

Historians and hosts of the hugely popular podcast The Rest is History, Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook have invited a few of their friends along to tell you EVERYTHING, from the Big Bang right up to 2022.
On the evening of Monday 23 May, in an hour-long show, Tom and Dominic welcome experts in their field to give you the low-down in double quick time. Contributing their expertise will be the world’s leading stegosaur specialist Dr Susie Maidment; world-renowned novelist Sebastian Faulks CBE; historian and broadcaster Michael Wood OBE; director of the Friends of Friendless Churches Dr Rachel Morley; historian, TV presenter and podcaster supreme Dan Snow MBE; novelist of historical fiction Robert Harris; historian and chief curator of the Historic Royal Palaces Tracy Borman; founding director of the Institute for Iranian Studies Professor Ali Ansari; and geneticist Dr Adam Rutherford, host with Dr Hannah Fry of the Curious Cases of Fry and Rutherford podcast.
This stellar line-up will take you on a whistle-stop tour through time and space, from tyrannosaurs to the Tudors, from the Sphinx to the Suffragettes, from Babylon to the Beatles, from the pre-Cambrian to the present day.
The evening will be in aid of three massively deserving charities. It is the last and crowning event of an entire year of fund-raising by Tom and the cricket team for which he plays, the Authors XI.

Follow Tom on Friday 23 April as he walks from M25 to M25, covering more than 40 miles and taking in three great sporting venues – Lord’s, Craven Cottage and Twickenham.
